Does the weight of your shoe really matter?

One thing that many people tend to notice is that Goodyear welted shoes tend to be on the heavier side when compared to other types of shoes available in the market. This has led to a debate on whether heavier shoes are uncomfortable or not.

To understand this better, think about walking on sand. When you walk on soft sand, it's nice for a short while, but if you were to run on it, it becomes quite difficult because the ground beneath you is soft and moves around. The same applies to lightweight, softer shoes like sneakers. If you're engaging in high-impact sports or activities, you need that extra cushioning at the bottom. But if you're wearing shoes for the whole day, it's better to have a harder surface at the bottom of your feet.

It’s a common misconception that heavier shoes equate to discomfort or even pain. However, it's our belief that this is not necessarily true. In fact, the heft of the shoe can actually contribute to added comfort, stability, and structure, which are often lacking in lighter footwear. It's understandable if you're accustomed to lightweight shoes, the shift to a heavier shoe might require a bit fo time. Yet, once you've crossed this transitional phase, you may be pleasantly surprised to discover how the additional weight lends itself to increased support and comfort for your feet.

The extra firmness and rigidity aids in the equal distribution of your body weight to the ground, thus minimizing strain on your joints. So, if you swear by light weight shoes, give them a chance - they just might become your go-to choice for both comfort and style over time.
